Custom Trams is a Cullman Alabama based company, Whose Primary owner, and general manager John, has 35+ Years in precision machining, manufacturing, and welding, along with 10+ Years of Tram Focused manufacturing, sales, installation and service. We utilize proven technology while striving for continuous improvements and innovations. Custom Trams Uses advanced technology in it's Drive Unit Control System. A VFD with programmable parameters allows for ultra smooth starting and stopping, while our in-car controls allow you to slow, stop, reverse, and or stop at any additional landings you have on your way to your dock.

Our system is a triple wrap, traction drive, using 5/16" 7-19 galvanized aircraft cable which has 9600 lbs capability. This main cable is attached to spring loaded safety pins which extend into the track, should the main cable become disconnected, this is backed up with a second 1/4" cable, which is controlled with a mechanical over speed, which will activate a second set of safety pins. along with these features a special slack cable system onboard the drive unit will automatically stop the drive system, should the car be restrained from going down, while other systems use a "track obstruction brake" these systems shut the complete system off, stranding you where you are, preventing any movement, while our system allows you to simply push up on the in-car controls, and go back to the top landing of your tram, with out any inconvenience!
